FKM/Viton rubber cord belongs to the fluoroelastomer category of elastomers. This rubber cord offers excellent resistance to a wide variety of corrosive fluids at elevated temperatures without major degradation. FKM/Viton rubber cords have excellent resistance to ozone, oxygen, have good mechanical properties, and low compression set. Viton rubber cord is not suitable for contact with molecular weights ketones and esters (e.g methyl ethyl ketone). Due to its specialist properties, FKM/Viton is much more expensive as compared to other elastomers. The terms FPM, FKM, and Viton very often cause confusion and lead to incorrect interpretations. All of these designations actually stand for one single base material: fluoro rubber. Viton cord is an all-round material capable of handling a diverse array of applications, particularly sealing jobs involving movement. It is suited for silicone fluids and gases, petroleum oils, acids, and some halogenated hydrocarbons.

A synthetic polymer that results from the hydrogenation of Nitrile rubber (NBR). This gives it superior mechanical characteristics, particularly high strength, greater thermal stability and helps reduce extrusion and wear. It can be used where temperatures are too high for standard Nitrile (NBR), but not sufficiently high to use fluorocarbon rubber (FFKM).

Neoprene cord (very good resistance to aging, weather, UV, and ozone). Neoprene rubber cord is made of a synthetic elastomer. The Neoprene rubber cords exhibit outstanding heat, ozone, weather, and heat resistance and have excellent electrical insulating properties. The solid round Neoprene cord is often used for applications that are exposed to outdoor or high heat environments. Neoprene rubber cords have weak resistance to fuels, oils and chemicals and are not recommended for use in automotive or machine applications. Neoprene Cord from solid rubber is remarkably durable. It is resistant to weathering, ozone, water and steam. Neoprene cord is also applicable for both high and low-temperature applications.

Polyurethane cord offers superior seal performance in hydraulic situations, where high pressures, shock loads, or abrasive contamination is anticipated. Polyurethane cord possesses chemical compatibility similar to that of Nitrile, offering good resistance to petroleum-based oils, hydrocarbon fuels and hydraulic fluids, the oxidizing effects of ozone, and the aging effects of sunlight. It also has good tear resistance. Unless specially compounded, at elevated temperatures Polyurethane cord begins to soften, losing its physical strength and chemical resistance advantages over other polymers. The solid cord of Polyurethane has a tendency to rapid deterioration when exposed to concentrated acids, ketones, esters, chlorinated, and nitro hydrocarbons. Polyurethane cords are also prone to hot water and steam degradation. Polyurethane cord is tough and durable with exceptional abrasion resistance. It also has excellent oil and chemical resistance and a high coefficient of friction. We offer a range of extruded transmission drive belting including cords, tubes and V profile and special profile extrusion. We can also manufacture endless polyurethane drive bands using in-house welding facilities.

The EPDM rubber cords exhibit outstanding heat, ozone, weather, and heat resistance and have excellent electrical insulating properties. EPDM rubber cord has a lower cost than Neoprene® while offering many of the same properties. The solid round EPDM cord is often used for applications that are exposed to outdoor or high heat environments. EPDM rubber cords do not have good resistance to fuels, oils and chemicals and are not recommended for use in automotive or machine applications. Our EPDM Solid Rubber Cord is made of solid rubber which is remarkably durable. It is resistant to weathering, ozone, water, and steam. EPDM cord is also applicable for both high and low-temperature applications.
